UK Weight Control - Nutrition Advice & Tips for Losing Weight
Discussed below are some basic nutrition advice that should be easy to follow and don't require a lot of in depth knowledge to understand.
Everyone should be concerned about getting the essential vitamins, minerals and nutrients on a daily basis. To achieve that you need to eat a balanced diet that contains them all.
The most important rule is the one that most people break every day - to eat a good breakfast. When you eat your first meal, your metabolism kicks in and starts to operate. The longer you leave it to eat, the slower your metabolism gets and as a result when you eat later on, your body cannot cope with all the calories and will store them all as fat. Going without a good breakfast is an ideal way to gain weight and not loose it!
In each of your meals, try to get some protein, carbohydrates and fat. This will ensure that your body gets what it needs to power you through the day. You should be eating every three to four hours all the time you are awake.
Try to make every other meal you eat a snack, so if you start with a good breakfast, then take a snack three hours later and then a substantial meal three hours after that again. With the heavier meals, try to take a heavier carbohydrate serving using potatoes or rice. Eat lighter servings of carbohydrate with your smaller meals by using salads for instance.
You also should be trying to stay away from preservatives that are all too common in our food these days. Always try to see exactly what preservatives are contained within cheeses and bread by carefully reading the labels. Be very wary of ready made dishes and canned food as these are usually overloaded with preservatives. Remember most preservatives are chemicals and not nutrients and as such are very bad for your health.
